Since October 1994, climatologists from Norwich, Bern, Würzburg,
Thessaloniki, Barcelona, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Lund and Reykjavik have been
working together on a project to reconstruct and provide synoptic interpretations
of significant historical phases in the climate, as well as comparing their
circulation dynamics with more recent developments. As a result of this
future-orientated cooperation between experts from historical climatology
and climate dynamics, a collective international research programme has
been established with the financial support of the European Commission
from 1996 to 1998.
