Governing in the multi-level system of federalism

Synchronous and diachronously comparative studies on the change of policy and institutional reforms in multi-level systems

The object of this project is a comparative analysis of the effects of multi-level structures on the course and consequences of political reforms in selected fields of politics. Great emphasis is placed on the question whether there exists a connection between types of institutional multi-level structures and their effects on the promotion or obstruction of reforms. A partial project on the change of policy in the European multi-level system (comparison of Germany, Austria, France) has been completed; a case study on Canadian federalism is in the process of being completed.
