Scheduling of resources for job shop production in the engine building industry

Due to the increasing pressure of competition, companies are forced to schedule their production more efficiently. Particularly, on closer examination of make-to-order production of capital-intensive products, there is great potential in the optimization of the work in process supply. The reduction of these assets can be realized by organizational methods, as well as by a more efficient resource constraint project scheduling. In order to solve this problem, a resource-oriented rolling planning approach has been developed. By reason of the structure of the underlying mathematical planning problem, the adoption of heuristic methods appears promising. This approach is tested exemplarily by means of an application from the aircraft industry.
