Although high-quality data do not necessarily guarantee good decisions, low-quality data are usually associated with poor decisions, high costs, and harmful influence on customer relationships. Therefore, as value-based CRM is aiming at building up valuable long-term customer relationships, securing adequate (customer) data quality is a prerequisite.
Hence, managing data quality constitutes a relevant problem for organizations. Solving this problem and ensuring adequate data quality requires a value-based data quality management which consists of defining, measuring, analyzing, and improving data quality. Thereby, data quality is considered to be multidimensional with consistency, currency, and completeness counted among the most cited data quality dimensions. The research group value-based CRM intends to contribute to the field of data quality management amongst others by…
• … developing feasible indicators and metrics for measuring data quality,
• … developing optimization models to determine the optimal state of data quality, as well as
• … determining optimal portfolios of data quality improvements.
