Gilbert Fridgen is post-doctoral fellow with the FIM Research Center at the University of Augsburg. He is head of the research area "Strategic IT Management and Information Systems for Sustainability".

Gilbert is primarily concerned with IT outsourcing and sustainable sourcing of non-renewable resources, especially metals and minerals. He thereby relies on mathematical modeling using methods from finance and computer science.
Gilbert has already published in some well-known magazines and congresses. He works as reviewer (e.g. magazine WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK, Journal of Information Technology, Information Systems Frontiers), publisher of special issues (Information Systems Frontiers) and in program commitees of congresses (ECIS, AMCIS).
During his studies, Gilbert gained practical experience by some internships in Germany and several month operations in Europe and south-east Asia.  In the context of his promotion he was on applied research projects by MLP and HypoVereinsBank. As post-doctoral fellow Gilbert took responsibility for third-party funded projects with e.g. A.T. Kearney, Fujitsu Technology Solutions, Hilti, Senacor and McKinsey.

He earned a diploma in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Augsburg in 2005. He finished his doctorate in business and information systems engineering in 2010. Since October 2011, he also serves as Interim Associate Professor for industrial engineering at the Institute of Materials Resource Management and is actively involved in the set-up of the Fraunhofer Project Group Business & Information Systems Engineering.
