Dr. Björn Häckel

Post-doctoral Fellow

Björn Häckel is post-doctoral fellow with the FIM Research Center at the University of Augsburg. He is head of the research area "Computer-aided Financial Management".

Besides Computer-aided Financial Management Björn´s research focuses on Finance and Resource Management.

Björn’s research focus thereby lies in transferring concepts and methods from financial, risk and portfolio theory on questions regarding valuation and management of IT investments and IT portfolios. He also is interested in supporting the identification, quantification and management of systemic risks in value networks by using IT.

Björn published his research results in various international peer reviewed journals and conferences. His work was published in Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft, Zeitschrift für Planung und Unternehmenssteuerung, European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), Internationale Tagung Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI) und Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICCS). As a service to the community, Björn served as a reviewer for several journals as e.g. Wirtschaftsinformatik and Business & Information Systems Engineering, Decision Support Systems as well as for conferences like European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Internationale Tagung Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI). 

Within several industry projects, he has collaborated with SAP AG, HypoVereinsbank AG, MLP AG, KGAL GmbH & Co. KG, Infineon Technologies AG as well as Carl Zeiss AG. During those industry projects, Björn supported the customers in developing and implementing concepts in the context of value based management and contributed to their processes and IT support. 

Björn studied business economics with a major on Business and Information Systems Engineering (Wirtschaftsinformatik), Financial Engineering, Public Sector Management and Production and Logistics at the University of Augsburg. From 2004 to September 2010 he worked as research assistant at the FIM Research Center, where he finished his doctoral degree in the field of Integrated Risk- and Return Management in the context of Value Based Management with “summa cum laude”.
