The Research Center Finance & Information Management has a close connection to the Department of Information Systems Engineering & Financial Management of Prof. Dr. Hans Ulrich Buhl, to the Professorship of Information Systems Engineering & Management Support of Prof. Dr. Marco C. Meier and to the Professorship for Information Systems Engineering & Financial Management of Prof. Dr. Andreas W. Rathgeber.
In the context of a variety of publicly funded research projects the employees of the Research Center develop methodically well-grounded solutions for problems of practical relevance in the area of finance and information management. By dealing with several joint projects with industry partners these solutions are applied in a competitive business environment. As a result the scientific approaches obtained from the research projects and the practical know-how gained from the projects with industry partners are integrated in the lectures and courses. Apart from that some courses and lectures are held with direct involvement of industry partners. By this approach a methodically well-grounded teaching and education with a high practical relevance can be provided to our students. This synergetic interaction of research, teaching and practice is an important factor of success especially for the Elite Graduate Program Finance & Information Management (ranked first place by CHE, Handelsblatt and Die Zeit for master programs in business administration in 2008/2009) established in cooperation with the Technical University of Munich and various industry partners.
