description

Prof. Dr. Buhl was a leading scientist and spokesman of the Research Unit Augsburg - Nuremberg (Forschergruppe Augsburg - Nürnberg) from 1997 to 2003. Further associates were Prof. Dr. Bodendorf, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Gerke, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Mertens, Prof. Dr. Morasch (at that time all from the University of Nuremberg), Prof. Dr. Kießling, Prof. Dr. Steiner, Prof. Dr. Welzel and Prof. Dr. Will (at that time all from the University of Augsburg).

The research unit analyzed the technological change induced by developing network infrastructures for electronic commerce and powerful application systems for networked business. On the background of the technological change they studied the effects on newly evolving, more transparent, location independent, networked markets. Those markets naturally develop different structures than previous markets (e.g. direct trading vs. intermediation). Creating a systematic and scientific explanation of the enterprise and its interactions with technologies and markets, the main focus was the ability to give recommendations for the design of future business on networked markets, especially regarding sales and work-sharing production.
