Application Process

Thank you for your interest in our elite graduate program "Finance & Information Management".

The application deadlines will be the 28th of February for the first round and the 31st of May for the second round. The online application for the class of 2013 is available now.

There is only one way of applying for FIM: You have to use the provided online application form and load up your documents. You are free to apply either in German or in English.

Please keep in mind that you will have to upload one file containing all the following documents:

Motivation/Cover letter
Curriculum Vitae
Summary and grades of previous studies
Certificate of higher education entrance qualification (e.g. "Abitur")
Reference(s) of internship(s)
Other certificates, references, testimonials etc.

If you decide to attach letters of recommendation, please ask the appraiser to use the provided file FIM form for Recommendations. Please hand them in - in a sealed envelope - seperately. You can send them to Michael Ludwig or Steffen Schenk.

Letters of recommendation as well as outstanding TOEFL and/or GMAT/GRE scores may be helpful but are currently not compulsory for an application. Please note, that there is no department code for the University of Augsburg/FIM and that you should refrain from sending your TOEFL-result directly to the University of Augsburg. Please include a copy of your TOEFL result with your regular application instead.

You don’t have to hand in certifications of your documents. Wrong statements and false information provided in your application will be followed by exclusion of the Elite Graduate Program – even after acceptance.

If your application has successfully passed the screening process preceding the interviews you will get further information. Interviews are conducted on an invitation-only basis. Prosepctive date in 2013:

for the first round: week 13
for the second round: mid of July

Interviews are conducted on an invitation-only basis. Please refrain from calling the office to request an interview. You will be contacted by the Program in case of an invitation.

Admissions policies

To ensure that your application is successful, please be aware of the following policies as you submit your application to the Elite Graduate Program “Finance & Information Management”:

Your application should be written solely by you without outside assistance.
Please apply online by means of the online application form.
Only one application may be submitted per year and applicant.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their application is complete.
It is up to the Admissions Board to decide whether any additional materials or changes are considered once an application has been submitted.
The complete application becomes the confidential property of the Admissions Board.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all the information and accompanying material provided in connection with their application is authentic and accurate.
The Admissions Board may at any time require applicants to provide satisfactory verification of the information and documents submitted as part of their application. If an applicant is unable to do so, the Board reserves the right to cease consideration of the application, to withdraw any offer of admission already made, and/or to terminate one's status as a student.
In case you are not admitted to the program, you may apply only once again.
The maximal size of the attachment must not exceed 4 MB.
We do not provide any compensation for travel expenses.

Dates & Deadlines

The application deadlines are the 28th of February for the first round and the 31st of May for the second round.

Pleas note that the deadlines mentioned above are the last dates when an application may be handed in. The online application form will be provided already two months before the respective application deadlines. The admission board welcomes applications as early as possible during the period stated. This allows us to examine the applications and contact the applicant if for example further information is needed or an earlier interview is possible. So please do not hesitate to apply early via our online application form.
