Ticket information:
 
The area in and around Augsburg has been split up into "zones". The city center is in zone 10, the University of Augsburg is located in zone 20. So when you are travelling from the city center to the university you will have to purchase a ticket that covers 2 zones (single ticket for 2 zones or devalidate 2 strips at your strip ticket).
 
Please note: you can NOT purchase any ticket on the tram and will have to buy your ticket either online (via app) or from a ticket machine. On busses you can purchase single or strip tickets only (no day tickets available on busses).
 
Ticket overview:
  • short-distance-ticket: travel up to 4 stops / 2,10€ 
  • single ticket: zone 10 & 20 / 4,20€ 
  • strip ticket: 9 strips / 16,20€. For each trip you take you devalidate the number of strips needed. You may share a strip ticket - you will have to devalidate the neccessary strips for each passenger (e.g. if you travel by two within the zone 10 & 20 you will have to devalidate 2 strips twice, NOT 4 strips once)
  • day ticket: unlimited travel for up to 5 people. The first person pays for the basic ticket (10,20€). You can add up to 4 passengers at a reduced fare (3,60€ p.P.).
"Specials":
  • "Free City Zone": area in the city center where you travel for free. You won't need a ticket. Further information and map:  (choose your language at the top of the menu bar)
  • "Hotel Ticket": The hotel ticket is an exclusive service provided by hotels and the AVV. If you stay for more than one day it will probably be the best choice. It allows you to use public transport at a particularly low cost (at present 11,20€ for two days unlimited travel), enabling you to get around the city flexibly and comfortably as a guest. Travel as often as you like throughout the city centre for two days (zone 10 and 20 - with the option to include Zone 30) and enjoy discounts or special offers from 24 partners – such as museums, city tours and the zoo. 
Further information and tickets are available from the Tourist Information Office on Rathausplatz (opening hours mon-fri  8:30 - 17:30, sat 10:00 - 17:00 Uhr, sun 10:00 - 15:00) and selected hotels. Just ask at the reception to find out if your hotel ist participating.
