Safer Fieldwork - A workshop offered by the FAI Graduate Centre (Graduiertenzentrum Fakultät für Angewandte Informatik)

For many PhD Students, their first field research takes place during their doctoral studies. Although you can thoroughly educate yourself about the country, region, or city where you plan to conduct your research, certain things may sometimes remain hidden. These include your own safety as well as your physical and mental health. The Safer Fieldwork Project has made it its mission to raise awareness of these important issues and will lead a two-part workshop at the University of Augsburg. This FAI Graduate Centre workshop will help you better prepare for the challenges of field research and assess your personal situation by providing you with tools for emotional and physical safety, which will also be illustrated with relevant examples. Preference will be given to PhD candidates who are about to conduct field research.

Der Weg zum Forschungsantrag mit Multi-Agenten
Zielgruppe: Fortgeschrittene Promovierende (R1) & Postdocs (R2,R3). Online.
Der DHV-Workshop vermittelt einen strukturierten Ansatz, um den Prozess des Schreibens eines Forschungsantrags als KI-gestützten Arbeitsprozess zu denken. Im Zentrum steht ein Multi-Agenten-Ansatz, bei dem spezialisierte KI-Rollen (z. B. Literatur-, Theorie-, Hypothesen- und Methoden-Agenten) gezielt eingesetzt werden, um einzelne Schritte dieses Prozesses zu unterstützen. Die Teilnehmenden erhalten einen Überblick über Chancen und Grenzen von KI in der Wissenschaft und lernen, wie sich klassische Forschungsschritte in ein koordiniertes System aus KI-Agenten übersetzen lassen.

Good Scientific Practice – Protecting Research Integrity
Zielgruppe: Promovierende (R1), besonders im ersten Jahr der Promotion. Präsenz.
The workshop provides participants with expertise in research ethics, offering them a space to reflect on their values and attitudes as researchers. Participants will gain knowledge of the principles of good scientific practice and enhance their ability to make responsible decisions in their daily research activities. The major objective of the workshop is to know and understand the basic rules and values of the responsible conduct of research in all its stages, according to local, national and international regulations and guidelines.
The participants will explore the differences and grey areas between good scientific practice, questionable research practice and scientific misconduct. They will learn to develop appropriate solutions for difficult situations in the process of doing research and receive advice on how to protect their own scientific work.The content of the workshop follows the curriculum “Good Scientific Practice”, which was commissioned by and developed in cooperation with the German Research Foundation (DFG) Ombudsman.
