Augsburg's Long Night of Science: New Approaches to Urban Climate Resilience
The Chair of Urban Climate Resilience at the University of Augsburg presented two innovative approaches to tackling the climate crisis during the Long Night of Science. The event demonstrated how the nutriAIDE app and serious gaming can help better address the climate crisis. NutriAIDE raises consumer awareness of the sustainability and health aspects of complex urban food issues. Personalized recommendations are delivered in a modern way through the app of the same name. Visitors were able to test the integrated app and the AI camera on the food items on display. The serious gaming component aimed to address the challenges of the climate crisis with visitors in a playful way. Through gaming sessions, they were introduced to new realities and learned more about the complex interconnections of climate change. Professor Dr. Sabine Doering-Manteuffel emphasized the importance of such events for raising public awareness. The department’s participation creatively highlights how urgent challenges like climate change can be addressed. The event was a great success and left the more than 3,000 visitors with a heightened awareness of the importance of climate protection and sustainable nutrition.
