Cellular Structures and Processes

Our body's cells and organs communicate through protein-based and chemical signals, which are recognized by various specific receptors. Deregulation of these signaling pathways can lead to diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. To better understand the molecular mechanisms of signal transmission in health and disease, we employ systematic and interdisciplinary approaches. These include analyzing cells, tissues, and organisms through proteome and metabolome studies, examining cell membranes and extracellular vesicles, proteases, and other membrane proteins, as well as assessing ion channels.
