Vita
I grew up in a village near Hanover and have always been strongly interested in the natural sciences, which led me to biochemistry as my main scientific passion. During my Master’s thesis, I worked on C-mannosylation, which sparked my interest in endoplasmic reticulum (ER) glycosylation and now defines my current research focus. This includes studying the attachment of a single mannose to proteins using targeted mass spectrometry approaches as well as proteomics to investigate the cellular consequences of altered glycosylation. In parallel, I am working on the bladder cancer biomarker nLc4, focusing on developing it into a toolbox for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Within this context, I produce recombinant antibodies using protein engineering and neoglycoproteins via reductive amination chemistry, applying these systems in ELISA-based assays for characterization and development. Outside the laboratory, I enjoy playing the saxophone in my hometown orchestra and playing the piano as a way to clear my mind.
