Having grown up in the surrounding area of Hannover, I stayed here to study biochemistry. Throughout my Bachelor and Master’s study courses, I completed multiple lab rotations in the Büttner group working with human stem cells in the context of biomarkers as well as different stem cell-based knockout models. I could contribute to the identification of the glycan epitope type 1 N-acetyllactosamine (Lc4) as a biomarker in human pluripotent stem cells, a project shared with Dr. Charlotte Rossdam. After having completed my Master’s study course, I started my PhD in 2022. One part of my research focuses on the understanding of protein O-mannosylation by establishment of a human induced pluripotent stem cell-based model. In another part of my studies, I am characterizing a recombinantly expressed version of a ceramide glycanase, this project is closely related to our overall research focus in GSL-derived glycan analytics. Besides work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, recently including my daughter. You can oftentimes find me in our rental garden or out for a run.
