Research Block Placement
Info
Dear students,
The Chair of Palliative Medicine is delighted to be able to offer you a research-based block placement (Module Parts 1 and 2) in your 6th and 8th semesters!
As part of the placement, you will gain an insight into our department’s ongoing projects and develop practical skills in the collection, analysis, interpretation and communication of scientific data. You will become familiar with general methods of scientific work as well as research methods specific to our field. You will be assigned one of our research assistants as your dedicated mentor. Furthermore, we look forward to involving you in the day-to-day work of our entire research team, for example through team meetings and training sessions. Under close supervision, you will be prepared to present and critically discuss a research finding at the end of the placement.
During the placement, you will have the opportunity to explore in depth a specific aspect of your choice from our current research projects. You are welcome to find out more in advance on this website under ‘Research Projects’. Depending on the project you choose and your own interests, your internship will focus on either analysing existing data (e.g. retrospective case file analyses, qualitative analysis of focus groups) or collecting your own data (e.g. screening patients to assess their need for specialised palliative care). However, you are also very welcome to work on your own research question within the field of palliative medicine, for example by applying a method that particularly interested you in the Longitudinal Research Course or one that you found challenging and would therefore like to practise and explore in greater depth.
We look forward to receiving your application!
