Federica Zavattaro has an interdisciplinary background in health policy, public health, digital health, and trust research. She is currently finalising her PhD at the Digital Society Initiative of the University of Zurich (CH), where her research examines the role of trust in European health data-sharing policies. Throughout her PhD, Federica has worked with the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health on public trust in a Swiss health data space, as well as on a second project, conducted together with the University of Bern, on defining public interest in the reuse of health data. She has also worked with the World Health Organization on the development of a self-assessment tool for policymakers, and completed a research visit at the Ethox Centre, University of Oxford (UK), to further develop the ethical dimensions of her doctoral work. Federica is part of the Young Gastein 2025 cohort, an EUPHAnxt Fellow, the Digital Health and AI representative within the EUPHA Youth Advisory Hub, and a member of the Swiss School of Public Health. Since May 2026, she is a research associate at the Institute for Ethics and History of Health in Society at the University of Augsburg, where she will be working on the DFG-UKRI funded project “Public Benefit and Public Trust in the Context of Health Data Research and Innovation", led by Ruth Horn in cooperation with Angeliki Kerasidou, Ethox Centre, University of Oxford.
