PDExa: Optimized software methods for solving partial differential equations on exascale supercomputers
The project PDExa, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), brings together five experts under the coordination of Prof. Kronbichler, with the aim to develop next-generation software methods for numerically solving partial differential equations on exascale supercomputers. The main algorithmic ingredients are high-order finite-element algorithms with matrix-free implementations. The algorithms are specialized for modern CPU hardware with wide SIMD vector units as well as GPUs, promising new insights to application areas in computational fluid dynamics, especially turbulent incompressible flows with coupled transport problems.
