Teacher training (subjects mathematics and biology) at the University of Ulm (2001-2006), completed with the 1st state examination. Doctoral studies in the DFG-funded research group "nwu-essen: Naturwissenschaftlicher Unterricht" at the University of Duisburg-Essen (2007-2009); visiting scholar at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada (2008). 2009 PhD (summa cum laude) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Subsequently, research associate at the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), University of Bamberg in the field of competence development (2009-2011). Research associate at the Chair of Educational Psychology and Excellence Research at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (2011-2022). 2018 Habilitation and Venia Legendi in the field of "Psychology with a focus on Empirical Educational Research" at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In the winter semester 2021/22, W3 professorship Digital Education in Schools at the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg (interim professor). Since 2022 assistant professor at the Department of Psychology at the University of Augsburg.
