Kurzprofil

Prof. Brunner (*1980) ist Professor für Decision Science in Healthcare an der Technischen Universität Dänemark (Technical University of Denmark, DTU). Er war bis März 2023 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Health Care Operations/Health Information Management an der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Augsburg und leitet weiterhin eine Forschungsgruppe Health Care Operations/Health Information Management an der Universität Augsburg. Er ist dort noch Zweitmitglied in der Medizinischen Fakultät und war mehrere Jahre Geschäftsführender Direktor des Universitären Zentrums für Gesundheitswissenschaften am Klinikum Augsburg (UNIKA-T).

Nach seinem Studium an der Universität Mannheim promovierte Prof. Brunner an der TUM School of Management im Jahr 2009. Er beschäftigt sich in seiner Forschung mit dem Bereich Health Care Operations. Im Vordergrund steht hierbei die Analyse und Planung von Prozessen im Krankenhaus, insbesondere die Personaleinsatzplanung. Die Forschungsarbeiten werden in internationalen peer-reviewed Journals (z.B. IIE Transactions, Health Care Management Science, Naval Research Logistics, etc.) publiziert. In 2015 wurde die Arbeit von Prof. Brunner mit dem Harold W. Kuhn Award für die beste Publikation in der Zeitschrift Naval Research Logistics ausgezeichnet. In 2016 war die Arbeit zur Personaleinsatzplanung von Krankenhausärzten von Prof. Brunner und Kollegen unter den Finalisten des EURO Excellence in Practice Award. Kürzlich gewann die Forschergruppe um Prof. Brunner den renommierten IISE/SSE Outstanding Innovation in Service Systems Engineering Award für ihre Covid-19 Forschung und war Finalist für die IISE QCRE/ProcessMiner Data Challenge Competition. Prof. Brunner hat eine Vielzahl an Praxisprojekten mit Bezug zur Personalbedarfs- und Personaleinsatzplanung durchgeführt. Er ist in der Geschäftsführung der XITASO Healthcare GmbH tätig.
