Registration period

The application period for the Bachelor Seminar International Accounting is from 20.02. to 18.04.2024 (12 o'clock).

Early applications will receive early feedback on the possibility of participation.

 

Note: Attendance is compulsory in the seminar. The dates will be announced in Digicampus. The introductory event is scheduled to take place on Monday, 22.04.2024 (10 am - 01 pm).

Please also submit the following documents via upload in the application form:

  •     A letter of application with information on motivation and previous subject-related knowledge (max. 1 page A4, in German).
  •     A current Studis grade transcript.

The number of participants for the International Accounting Seminar is limited. The selection of participants is based on the courses attended at the chair and the letter of application. Participants will be announced by e-mail after the application deadline.


During the seminar, your name and e-mail address will be disclosed to the other seminar participants. If you do not agree with this, please let us know when you register!


Please note that your registration for the bachelor seminar must be considered binding. If you fail to perform the required service or drop out without justification, the chair reserves the right to take this decision into account when you reapply for a seminar place or for participation in further courses with participant restrictions.

Seminar requirements

The bachelorseminar International Accounting is suitable for bachelor students of the Finance & Information cluster and for bachelor students of the GBM and ReWi programs. It is recommended to take the seminar in the third year of study.


The examination requirements are as follows: 60% seminar paper, 25% presentation, 15% participation.


Please note the information on the seminar schedule as well as further announcements in the corresponding Digicampus event "International Accounting Seminar (Bachelor)".


Attendance is compulsory on all seminar days (introductory event and seminar days at KPMG). The dates of the seminar as well as the specific deadlines for the presentations and seminar papers will be announced in Digicampus in good time.

 

procedure

The seminar takes place in cooperation with the auditing company KPMG. In the course of an introductory event, an introduction to scientific work will be given and the course of the seminar will be discussed. The following IFRS topics will be covered in the seminar: Leasing, Financial Instruments, Hedging/Derivatives, Revenue Recognition, Business Combinations, Deferred Taxes, Pension Provisions and Share-based Executive Compensation. Topics will be assigned following the introductory session. Students work on the topics in groups of 2-3 students.


A few weeks after the introductory event, several seminar days take place at KPMG in Munich. On the seminar days, students present the content they have worked on. In addition, KPMG experts provide further insights into the topics covered and the day-to-day work of an auditing firm. The seminar days have a workshop character. Active participation by the students is encouraged.


A seminar paper is to be submitted approximately a few weeks after the seminar days at KPMG.
