Visiting Professorship and Lecture Series: Itta Shedletzky

The renowned literary scholar Itta Shedletzky was the first visiting professor at the Jakob Fugger Zentrum. Her visiting lectureship provided for a successful launch of the newly established research centre's work in May and June 2013.
The Jakob Fugger Zentrum, a Research College for Transnational Studies, officially began its work with Itta Shedletzky's guest professorship, which was organised in cooperation with the Chair of Modern German Literature (Prof. Dr. Bettina Bannasch).
Itta Shedletzky offered three public lectures during her stay in Augsburg. In addition, interested students of German Studies and History were able to attend two seminars with Ms. Shedletzky.

- „Überall hängt noch ein Fetzen Jerusalem.“ Else Lasker-Schülers poetische und reale Präsenz in Jerusalem. 18.06.2013, 19 Uhr, Jüdisches Kulturmuseum Augsburg-Schwaben, Halderstraße 6-8.
Prof. em. Dr. Itta Shedletzky
taught Modern German Literature and Cultural Studies at the German Department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem until 2003, and worked on major research and editorial projects on the works of Gershom Scholem and Else Lasker-Schüler at the Leo Baeck Institute and the Franz Rosenzweig Center in Jerusalem . Her research focuses on German-Jewish literature, as well as history and philosophy from the 19th century to the present.
