Our international Ph.D. program, “Rethinking Environment,” is a cooperation between Augsburg University and Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU). Institutionally anchored at the Environmental Science Center (WZU) in Augsburg and at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society (RCC) in Munich, it brings together experts in the Environmental Humanities who come from a very diverse range of disciplines. The specific academic profiles of the WZU and the RCC, and the long-term non-academic structures that both centers are actively engaged in, provide Ph.D. students with anextensive international and regional network of scholars and partners in cultural and media institutions, NGOs, and industries.

Each Ph.D. project will be supervised by an interdisciplinary supervisory team, comprising three mentors from both universities (either two mentors from Augsburg and one from Munich, or two from Munich and one from Augsburg).
