Investigation of dynamics processes and aging phenomena in glass formning matter using dielectric spectroscopy

This project focuses on the investigation of the molecular dynamics at the liquid-glass transition using broadband dielectric spectroscopy. One finds a variety of dynamic processes, whose origin often is not clarified yet. They also are of technical relevance, e.g., for the application of polymers in modern communication technique. The characterization of these processes, especially in the so far only rarely investigated high-frequency range, and the clarification of their microscopic origins are the aim of this project. In addition, we investigate the technically highly relevant aging processes of glasses, which from a theoretical point of view so far are only poorly understood.
