Religion should be taught with heart, hand and mind. This project aims at developing a methodology for the holistic teaching of religion. It is assumed that methods are more than mere teaching techniques. In using certain teaching methods, it becomes evident how teachers are treating the children and youths they are responsible for. Therefore, the compendium on methodology to be compiled deals with all aspects which have direct or indirect effects on pupils in religion classes and promote or hinder social learning as well as their spiritual and mental development. It has to be determined which secret aims, theological or educational, social or anthropological assumptions are contained in each method. It is therefore the aim of methodology to provide background information about various methods and approaches used in teaching religion as well as about the persons involved, and above all, to give practical tips for creative and holistic teaching of religion. These range from group-dynamical processes and creative work with text documents to communicative, meditative, artistic and playful aspects.
