The Institute of Mathematics of the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Materials Engineering at the University of Augsburg invites applications for the position of a

Full professor (W3) for
Inverse Problems
(Inverse Probleme)

to be filled as soon as possible in a permanent position.

The future holder of the professorship should be an internationally visible expert in the mathematical treatment of inverse problems. Her/his (m/f/d) research has applications in medicine or the natural sciences.

The person to be appointed represents inverse problems in research and teaching at the Institute of Mathematics. Experience in the acquisition of third-party funds and in interdisciplinary research cooperation is expected. The university is currently developing a joint research cluster of the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Materials Engineering, the Faculty of Applied Computer Science and the Faculty of Medicine in Augsburg. The professorship is part of the center and the future holder of the position is expected to be strongly involved in collaborations with other members of the center. The teaching responsibilities include courses for the study programmes in Mathematics, joint programmes of Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as service for other disciplines. Participation in academic self-administration and digital teaching skills are required as well.

Requirements for the employment are a relevant university degree, pedagogical aptitude, the ability to do scientific work, which is usually verified by a doctorate, as well as the habilitation or proof of equivalent scientific relevant achievements in the field of mathematics, which may also have been achieved in the context of a junior professorship or outside academia.

An appointment as a civil servant may only be made until the age of 52 (Art. 10 Abs. 3 Satz 2 BayHSchPG), otherwise an employment under private law is possible.
