in the scope of the regular working hours in an employment relationship initially limited to one year starting as soon as possible. Further employment for three additional years is intended. This position can be varied as part-time employment, provided job sharing ensures the full-time performance of the tasks.

Quantum computing lies in the intersection between computer science and physics with a variety of applications, such as in chemistry and material science. The research group in quantum algorithms is focusing on hybrid algorithmic procedures. One example is the separation of physically motivated eigenvalue problems into one- and many-body components that can be tackled on classical and quantum hardware. In this context the group also develops automatized software solutions and abstraction concepts.

We offer:

  • The opportunity to obtain a PhD in computer science — the first year of the contract will be devoted to find a suitable topic taylored to your individual interests and skills
  • Opportunities to publish in well-respected international research journals
  • Opportunities to participate in international conferences

Your profile:

  • Completed Master’s degree in computer science or a related subject (physics, mathematics, or other degrees in science with suitable focus - like theoretical chemistry). Required qualifications must be demonstrated with the application materials.
  • Active contribution to the teaching duties of the group (5 course hours)
