Open Zoom consultation

Our open Zoom consultation session offers students and PhD candidates a straightforward way to get initial questions answered straight away – every Wednesday from 2.00 pm to 2.30 pm and every Thursday from 9.00 am to 9.30 pm.
No appointment is necessary. You can discuss matters relating to career guidance, developing your professional profile, additional qualifications or starting your career, and speak directly with a member of our advisory team.

Through our services, we support students, PhD candidates and graduates for up to one year after graduation, as well as dual-career partners, with career guidance and a successful start to their professional lives.
The Career Service offers personalised advice – from setting goals to starting your career, whether on specific issues or through comprehensive coaching sessions on strategic career planning.
In addition to our seminars and self-help resources, we offer individual consultation appointments. Here, we discuss topics relating to career guidance, study and career planning, work placements, job hunting, application documents and starting your career. 

 

Common questions in counselling and coaching:

  • How can I find out which career field or role suits my interests and skills?

  • What opportunities does my degree offer me after graduation?

  • How can I identify the common thread linking my studies, practical experience and career goals?

  • Which additional qualifications or work placements would be beneficial for my career path?

Who can take part?

Students at the University of Augsburg at any stage of their studies, as well as graduates up to approximately one year after graduation, can make use of all the advisory and coaching services offered by the Career Service.

The Büro für Chancengleichheit has a range of responsibilities in the areas of promoting women and diversity, as well as anti-discrimination work at the University. The staff support the work of the Women’s Representatives at the University of Augsburg and its faculties, devise individual and structural support measures, and act as a point of contact and advice centre for all members of the university community. In addition, they promote networking with other universities and institutions, both regionally and nationwide. The Office thus acts as an organisational and coordination hub for equality matters at the University of Augsburg.
The KLeVer-Programm, which is also run by the Office for Equal Opportunities, provides support in particular to young female researchers in their career development. It is run by the Office for Equal Opportunities and organised in cooperation with the Centre for Continuing Education and Knowledge Transfer (ZWW). The individual offerings include workshops on career development, opportunities for academic development, targeted enhancement of specific skills, and workshops on work-life balance issues.

The so-called “ Hochschulbetreuungsstelle” or Academic Immigration Office houses a branch of the Migration and Residence Department (formerly known as "Ausländerbehörde" / Foreigners' Office) of the City of Augsburg and a counseling office (of the International Office) for students and academic staff of both Augsburg universities. It is located in Eichleitnerstraße 30 (Campus “Alte Universität”), building F2, 1st floor, 86159 Augsburg.

 

The Higher Education Team at the Augsburg Job Centre provides advice and information to students and graduates on the following topics:

- Current job profiles, the state of the labour market, and employment opportunities

- Searching for, finding and applying for work placements and entry-level jobs

- Support and advice on finding a suitable Master’s degree programme

- Information on alternative study and training options for those unsure about their studies or who have dropped out

- Legal basics: e.g. registering as a jobseeker or unemployed, child benefit, insurance
