ProfiLehre is the University of Augsburg’s continuing education program in higher education pedagogy, designed to enhance the professionalism of university teaching. It is aimed at faculty members and offers them the opportunity to systematically and practically improve their teaching skills.

Similar higher education teaching programs exist under various names at all Bavarian universities and colleges; in terms of content and structure, the programs are coordinated and all align with international standards. These higher education teaching programs can be completed with the “Certificate in Higher Education Teaching from Bavarian Universities.”

The skills promoted and acquired through the University of Augsburg’s ProfiLehre program are of increasing importance for both academic careers and non-academic careers.

Recipients:

ProfiLehre is a program open to all teaching staff at the University of Augsburg. The seminar program is therefore aimed equally at professors and research staff, as well as student and research assistants who serve as tutors. For adjunct instructors with a teaching load in the current semester, the same conditions apply as for University employees. Of course, the program is also open to employees of other Bavarian universities as well as all instructors at Bavarian institutions of higher education. For university staff, the participation conditions of the DiZ Ingolstadt apply (participation fee: €150 per day).

Tutors are asked to submit a one-time certification of their tutoring activity from the respective department via the form for Tutor verification when registering for our seminars once per semester.

Certificate for Teaching in Higher Education of the Bavarian Universities

We would be happy to issue you a Certificate in University Teaching if you have completed 120 credit hours of seminars from the ProfiLehre program. You can find more detailed information about the requirements and conditions at this link. 

Certificate for Teaching in Higher Education of the Bavarian Universities - Specialisation Level

Building on the Certificate in University Teaching offered by Bavarian universities, you can earn the Advanced Level Certificate. As part of this certificate program, you will receive teaching coaching and academic advising. For more information and to view our flyer, please visit our link.

Certificate of Inclusive Teaching in Higher Education

In collaboration with the Coordinator for Students with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses, and with support from the State Ministry of Science and the Arts, ProfiLehre offers the certificate program in Inclusive University Teaching. Cost contribution:

Members of the University of Augsburg and employees of other Bavarian universities are required to pay a fee of €30.00 per day of the event or per 10 contact hours, €40.00 per 1.5 days or per 15 contact hours, and €50.00 per 2 days or per 20 contact hours. An invoice will be issued for this amount and sent in advance via email. Participants are asked to transfer this seminar fee before the event begins or to grant the Quality Agency a direct debit authorization for internal billing via their department account, so that the certificate of participation can be issued immediately at the end of the event.

Participation is free of charge for student tutors.

All faculty members from Bavarian universities and colleges are also welcome. However, the participation conditions of the DiZ Ingolstadt apply to them (participation fee: €150 per day).

For external participants who are not affiliated with either Bavarian universities or Bavarian colleges, the fee is €300 per day.

Registration is done through DigiCampus. External participants should please send us an email to sekretariat@qa.uni-augsburg.de. Please include the name of the event you are interested in (along with the date, to avoid scheduling conflicts), your name, your department (or organizational unit), your university affiliation, and your contact information.

Cancellation:

Please note that your registration is binding. If you are unable to attend a seminar, you should cancel your registration at least one week before the seminar begins so that other interested parties may be able to participate. In the event of a later cancellation, the full participation fee must be paid.

Our Trainer:

The trainers are recruited from among faculty members at the University of Augsburg with many years of teaching experience, as well as from trainers at Bavarian universities and external instructors.

Rechtliche Grundlage:

Bayerisches Hochschulgesetz vom 23.05.2006 [(Art. 2 (2)]:

„1 Die Hochschulen fördern besonders leistungsfähige Studierende und - entsprechend ihrer Aufgabenstellung - den wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Nachwuchs. 2 Die Universitäten wirken auf die wissenschaftliche Betreuung der Personen hin, die eine Promotion anstreben, und sollen für diese forschungsorientierte Studien anbieten. 3 Zum Erwerb der pädagogischen Eignung für eine Professur bieten die Hochschulen fächerübergreifend oder in Zusammenarbeit mehrerer Hochschulen geeignete Veranstaltungen an.“

Beschluss des Bayerischen Landtags vom 22.05.2003 (Drucksache 14/12534)

zur „Verpflichtung zur Teilnahme an Didaktikangeboten für Professorenschaft und weiteres Akademische Lehrpersonal an den Universitäten in Bayern“.
„Die Staatsregierung wird aufgefordert, im Rahmen vorhandener Ressourcen ein Konzept zur Struktur und Verdichtung des hochschuldidaktischen Angebots an den bayerischen Universitäten zu erarbeiten und dem Landtag vorzulegen.
Dabei sind insbesondere

• die Erfahrung des DIZ (Didaktikzentrum der bayerischen Fachhochschulen) und die fachlich einschlägigen Initiativen an den bayerischen Universitäten wie etwa das Programm „ProfiLehre“ der Münchner Universitäten zu berücksichtigen und weiter zu entwickeln,
• Nachwuchswissenschaftlern und Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen verstärkt Angebote in Hochschuldidaktik zu machen und die Teilnahme verpflichtend festzulegen,
• die Fort- und Weiterbildungsangebote in der Hochschuldidaktik für das akademische Lehrpersonal (Professoren und Mittelbau) auszubauen“.

Novelle des Bayerischen Hochschulgesetzes vom 1.8.2003:

In der Einleitung zum Gesetzentwurf zur Änderung des Bayerischen Hochschulgesetzes vom 17.1.2003 (Bayerischer Landtag, Drucksache 14/11324) steht auf Seite 2 unter Punkt 6:
„Kernaufgabe der Universitäten ist die Förderung und Qualifizierung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses. Um die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der bayerischen Hochschulen in diesem Bereich zu erhalten, muss das Habilitationsverfahren .... neu gestaltet werden: Habilitationen dauern häufig lang und die Habilitanden haben zu wenig Gelegenheit, selbständig zu forschen und lehren. Der pädagogischen Qualifizierung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses wird zu wenig Bedeutung beigemessen“.
