Studied mathematics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Freie Universität Berlin, and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

After serving as director of the MathJax Consortium (2012–2017), he worked as a consultant and developer for academic publishers. In particular, since 2017, he has been developing full-text HTML production for the American Mathematical Society, Providence, RI (journals and monographs).

Since 2018, he has served as a volunteer Invited Expert for the W3C Accessible Rich Internet Applications Working Group.
