De Processibus Matrimonialibus
The University of Augsburg offers the supplementary course De Processibus Matrimonialibus for the training of counselors with regard to the conduct of ecclesiastical marriage annulment proceedings. In this course, students are introduced to the basics of Catholic canon law and especially to ecclesiastical marriage and procedural law.
The knowledge of ecclesiastical law acquired there is also practiced by the students in various courses and they are familiarized with the activities of the ecclesiastical courts. This puts them in a position to give expert and well-founded advice to interested parties before initiating ecclesiastical marriage annulment proceedings.
To this end, the program draws on specially suited lectures, seminars and courses in canon law offered by the Faculty of Catholic Theology, most of which are offered as block courses. It can be completed during the course of study and can be taken up at the beginning of any semester. The program has a standard duration of four semesters and a maximum duration of six semesters and is open to students of all subjects and faculties of the University of Augsburg.
Due to a small group size, special attention is paid to the individual support of each student. The University of Augsburg awards a certificate for the successful completion of the additional study program.
All further information regarding the course of studies including the modules to be completed as well as the examination modalities can be found via the link below on the website of the study program. Likewise, the student counselling service is available at any time for consultations or questions.
- The study program does not provide a qualification for a professional occupation.
A certificate, but not an academic degree, is awarded for successful completion of the program.
