Study content:

The Augsburg Master's degree programme in Industrial Engineering teaches competencies in natural and economic sciences, concepts and methods for shaping a future-oriented, sustainable society. It is aimed at students who have completed a bachelor's degree programme in economics, natural sciences, engineering or industrial engineering.

Through the possibility of an individual focus, students can design their own study programme. A specialisation in the area of "Management and Sustainability" focuses on financial and production management issues such as the analysis of raw material prices, the techno-economic evaluation of investment decisions, the determination of price models for energy services or the design of closed-loop supply chains. At the methodological level, advanced concepts of operations research are taught comprehensively.

A specialisation in "Materials Engineering" focuses on the design and development of new types of structural materials, in particular function-integrated materials and fibre composites. The networking of the University of Augsburg and in particular the Institute of Materials Resource Management with the Anwenderzentrum Material- und Umweltforschung (Materials and Environmental Research Application Centre), the DLR Centre for Lightweight Construction Technology, the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Foundry, Composite and Processing Technology and the Resource Lab of the University of Augsburg provides numerous opportunities for practice- and research-oriented student research projects and Master's theses.

Career prospects:

Special features

The parent Institute for Materials Resource Management bundles the various subject areas under one roof, thus enabling efficient and structured studying. All courses take place in lecture halls and laboratories with modern equipment. The computer pools available to students are also state-of-the-art. An admission restriction with its own selection procedure guarantees the best learning conditions instead of overcrowded seminars. Students benefit from the knowledge of internationally recognised experts, the location of external research institutes such as DLR and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft as well as established core competence centres. Numerous cooperations with industrial companies enable learning with a high level of practical relevance. After a well-founded basic education, the students can set individual management-oriented or engineering science-centred accents through the large selection of courses in the specialisation area. The degree programme thus optimally prepares students for starting a career or for further Master's programmes. At the University of Augsburg, all events take place on the central university campus. This allows students to spend their breaks together in a pleasant atmosphere.
