Recent and ongoing research in the fields of Educational Psychology and Empirical Educational Research will be presented and discussed in the research colloquium. In addition to scientists from the University of Augsburg, researchers from other research institutions will also report on their work. All colleagues, doctoral researchers and students are cordially invited.

How do young people successfully navigate adversity and change? A great deal of research has focused on young people’s responses to adversity (buoyancy), but far less has investigated their capacity to deal with change (adaptability). Buoyancy refers to young people’s ability to navigate ‘everyday’ adversity. Adapt ability is a psychological construct reflecting young people’s capacity to regulate their cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functions to respond to change, uncertainty, and novelty. This presentation shares findings from recent research exploring the role of buoyancy and adaptability in young people’s academic and personal wellbeing— including the unique and complementary ways in which buoyancy and adaptability contribute to their positive development.
