Research Associate (m/f/d), Faculty of Medicine

At the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Augsburg, the Chair of Physiology & Vascular Biology is seeking to fill the position of a

Research Associate (m/f/d)

for 65% of the regular working hours for a fixed-term employment contract of 3 years. Subject to fulfilment of the personal and pay scale requirements, remuneration will be in accordance with pay scale TV-L 13.

Your responsibilities:

  • Active participation in interdisciplinary research projects on the role of the immune and nervous systems in cardiovascular and neurovascular diseases
  • Planning, execution, and analysis of experimental studies (in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro)
  • Presentation of results at scientific meetings and publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Supervision of doctoral candidates and students

Your profile:

  • Completed university degree (Master’s or Diplom) in the life sciences, medicine, molecular medicine, biochemistry, or a related field
  • A completed or advanced doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat. or equivalent) is desirable but not a prerequisite
  • Solid knowledge in one or more of the following areas: molecular biology, cardiovascular biology, immunology, neurobiology
  • Willingness to work with laboratory animals (certification in animal experimentation is an advantage)
  • Documented practical experience in cell culture, microscopy, histology, flow cytometry and/or molecular and protein biochemistry techniques
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research and translational medicine
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team; excellent command of English
  • Willingness to undertake short research stays at partner institutions in Germany and abroad (e.g., Sweden)
