High-Tech Agenda Bavaria
As part of the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria (HTA), the University of Augsburg has received significant funding to increase the number study places, professorships, positions for academic and non-academic staff, as well as develop the university’s infrastructure. In total, the Free State of Bavaria is investing around €3.5 billion in the technology offensive.
As part of the High-Tech Agenda, the University of Augsburg has established the Centre for Climate Resilience, the Centre for Advanced Analytics and Predictive Sciences (CAAPS), and the AI Production Network. With the AI Production Network, the university is making a valuable contribution to ensuring that scientific research flows directly into the regional economy and production. The construction of a new computer centre is future-proofing the university’s infrastructure. In future, a new modular building will house technical biology and computational biology, among others. In order to capitalise on the effects of synergy, the new building will also provide space for a number of biological and biophysical laboratories.
Funding from the High-Tech Agenda has made possible the creation of 33 new professorships at the University of Augsburg, focussed particularly on the fields of Artificial Intelligence and climate research. With two new degree programmes, the university has opened up new opportunities for future students. The bachelor’s degree programme in data science has already started, and from the summer semester of 2023, the university will offer a bachelor’s degree programme in mathematics and computer science for the first time.
