Mit (Wiedersehens-)Freude und Sicherheitsmaßnahmen startet die neue Vorlesungszeit

In German: Begrüßung zum Wintersemester 21/22 durch Prof. Dr. Sabine Doering-Manteuffel

About 3,500 young people are starting a new course at University of Augsburg this week. They are discovering their new place of study in introductory events on campus as well as digitally. This semester will be a transition semester at the University, as it is at all universities in Germany. "We finally have face-to-face teaching on campus again, especially in the seminars and workshops. However, to avoid too many crowds and to ensure everyone's safety, digital formats will remain," explains Prof. Dr. Markus Dresel, Vice President for Studies and Teaching. The total of about 20,000 students are able to find out which event is offered in which format directly from their courses or faculty via the university's digital registration portal, Digicampus.

3G rule and mandatory masks in campus buildings

The 3G rule applies on the campus of the University of Augsburg as well as at all other locations. The university buildings may not be entered without appropriate proof of identity. The only exceptions are employees of the University of Augsburg, who must show appropriate identification.

3G proof means that persons on campus must be vaccinated, recovered or tested. A PCR test may be up to 48 hours old, a rapid test up to 24 hours. Supervised antigen tests (self-tests) are generally not accepted. Persons exempt of vaccination must also be able to proof this status.

The University of Augsburg has hired a security service for the control of 3G. This service will check the entrances at peak times and also carry out random checks in the buildings.

In principle, masks (surgical masks) are compulsory in the buildings. If the distance of 1.5 meters is maintained in the teaching rooms, the mask can be removed while seated at the place. Otherwise, even in the "checkerboard pattern" in the lecture hall, the mask obligation applies throughout. In each of the teaching rooms, seats are marked for different seating arrangements.

Test station open

Until further notice, the University of Augsburg is offering its students and employees the test station as a supplementary service. Here, Corona quick tests are offered free of charge from Monday to Friday, between 8 to 9:30 am.

Food hall for food supply and outside the lunch period as a recreation room

Of course, the food hall is as much a part of studying as the lake is on our campus in Augsburg - and in this respect it is only logical that the food hall is also open again. Here, too, the 3G principle applies, which is checked at the entrance, supplemented to the "Darf-ich-rein" app for possible contact tracking.

In addition, the food hall can be used as a recreation room if students have to attend an online event between individual classroom events. The 3G principle and the 1.5-meter distance also apply here. If this distance cannot be maintained due to the large number of people present, masks must be worn in the food hall as a recreation room.

Opening hours of the food hall as a common room: Monday through Friday, from 08:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 14:00 p.m. to 19:00 p.m.
