BKH Augsburg

As a university psychiatric clinic, our scope of work does not only include the comprehensive support of people in crises or difficult life situations, but also the treatment of people with psychiatric illnesses. As a research clinic in the Augsburg University Hospital network within the framework of the University Medicine of Augsburg, we also consider it our duty to expand clinical knowledge through basic research and the implementation of a wide variety of research projects to constantly open up new therapeutic options for patients.

Our study center is intended to provide everyone interested in an opportunity to learn about current projects, ask questions about the various areas of clinical research in psychiatry, or find out everything you need to know about participating in a study.

We offer support to the researchers working in-house in the realization of their various research projects, for example:

  • Support the implementation of their own research questions in corresponding projects
  • Assistance in the evaluation of study offers from the economy
  • Assistance in the development of the necessary documentation
  • Data entry into electronic databases (eCRFs)
  • Development and creation of so-called patient folders for the genesis of data and presentation of research results
  • Compilation of necessary materials (e.g., for blood sampling or testing)
  • Proper provision and storage of study materials and test preparations (e.g., access and temperature monitoring)
  • Archiving of study documents after completion of the study in accordance with legal requirements in our study archive

Regular qualification of all persons involved in studies - physicians, psychologists, colleagues from nursing, and other functional areas - regarding rules to be observed and important institutions:

  • AMG and MPDG - (Medicines and Medical Devices Act).
  • GCP and ICH - (Good Clinical Practice and International Conference on Harmonization)
  • BfArM and PEI as BOBs - (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices and Paul Ehrlich Institute as higher federal authorities)
  • Local and lead ethics committees

In other words, our study center is the central point of contact for all those involved in clinical research - patients and researchers alike.
