Press Augsburg

At the Institute of Physics at the University of Augsburg, scientists develop so-called microfluidic systems that are used for biomedical and biotechnological purposes. Cell cultures can grow under controlled conditions on small chips or entire laboratories can be used for individual diagnostics. The Chair of "Technical Biology" headed by Prof. Dr. Janina Bahnemann uses computer-aided design software and high-resolution 3D printing technology for this purpose. The systems are particularly efficient and offer great potential for automating laboratory work. One of the major projects at the chair is funded by the DFG's Emmy Noether program.
