How can behavioural insights help explain climate action and inform more effective policy?

This question stood central at a workshop in Bologna (May 7-8, 2026) that was hosted by the groups of Alessandro Tavoni/Emanuele Campiglio. Florian Diekert was invited to present the paper “Behavioral Effects of Early Warning Signals".

From 15 to 30 January 2026, Dr. Patrick Hoffmann conducted a research stay at the Universidad de Talca in Chile. Hosted by Dr. Carlos Bopp, the visit strengthened collaboration on drought adaptation in irrigation communities and included a seminar presentation on psychological ownership in water governance.

The 2026 edition of the well-known workshop Experiments for the Environment (X4E) will take place at the Centre for Climate Resilience on Thursday March 19 and Friday March 20. This time it is organized by the two Environmental Economics groups of the University of Augsburg. The organizational preparations have already begun and the call for submissions is open!

Patrick Hoffmann received the Best Research Award at the XV AEEA Congress for a study on psychological ownership and farmers’ perceptions of water savings.

Three members of the Environmental Economics research group of the University of Augsburg attended the second edition of the Global Tipping Points Conference in Exeter in the United Kingdom.  

From June 25-26, the Nordic Annual Environmental and Resource Economics Workshop took place at Denmark’s Technical University DTU in Kongens Lyngby. Around 50 environmental economists presented their research and recent work, covering a wide range of different topics within the discipline. Anna Maier and Felix Kotulla represented the Environmental Economics group of the University of Augsburg.

Florian Diekert and Patrick Hoffmann present the working groups’ joint research at the 30^th anniversary conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) at the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen, Norway.
