An opening exists at the Chair of Model-based Environmental Exposure Science (Prof. Dr. Christoph Knote), Faculty of Medicine, University Augsburg, within a funded research project on the influence of environmental factors on stroke occurrence (STROKEMOD) in collaboration with the University hospital Augsburg to be filled as soon as possible. We are looking for a

Research assistant (m/f/d)

for a fixed-term employment contract of 70% of regular working hours for two years. If the personal and pay scale requirements are met, remuneration will be in accordance with pay group E13 TV-L.

Your duties:

  • Integration of known relationships between environmental factors and stroke occurrence into an existing numerical prediction system
  • Statistical analysis of actual stroke occurrences with model predictions
  • Development of an operational forecasting tool for short-term stroke occurrence at University Hospital Augsburg
  • Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level at University Augsburg (Faculty of Medicine as well as Faculty of Applied Informatics) for 2 hours per week

Your profile:

  • PhD in natural science, statistics, medicine or similar
  • Communication and organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills to work within a diverse team of scientists
  • Programming knowledge in Python or R is an advantage
  • Knowledge of German is an advantage
