The Faculty of Philology and History at the University of Augsburg has a vacancy in Classical Archaeology (Prof. Dr. N. Sojc) to start on 01 Oktober 2024 for a
 

PhD position

with half of the regular working hours in a fixed-term employment relationship until 30 September 2027.

The position involves teaching Classical Archaeology for 5 SWS, working in the department's research areas (e.g. GIS on Roman Augsburg or the Akragas Project), performing as well other tasks within the scope of the department's activities. Opportunities for scientific qualification as well as research and publication activities are given and desired.

Requirements for employment are an above-average university degree with an M.A. (very good and good) in Classical Archaeology or in a closely related study programme (e.g. Provincial Roman Archaeology or Digital Archaeology), very good knowledge of English and competence in digital applications (e.g. Access, GIS). Knowledge of the Latin language and at least one focus on Digital Archaeology, archaeological urbanism research or ancient human-environment relationships is desirable.

The required qualification must already be submitted in the application documents by means of corresponding certificates. If the personal and collectively agreed conditions are met, remuneration will be paid in accordance with Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L.
