Integrating AI, molecular dynamics, and virtual reality into an advanced learning experience

The new “Simulation and 3D Visualization of Biomolecules” experiment is now established in the Advanced Lab (Fortgeschrittenenpraktikum) at the University of Augsburg. Students can explore biomolecules in immersive 3D/VR, combine AI-based protein structure prediction with molecular dynamics simulations, and directly visualize biomolecular structure and dynamics interactively.

Our recent study on lipid nanoparticles has now been published.

Excited to share that our latest work is now in ACS Nano. We show that LNPs formulated with the ionizable lipids MC3, SM-102, and ALC-315 exhibit earlier onset and stronger mRNA-GFP expression in vitro when prepared in citrate buffer, compared to phosphate or acetate. The MD simulations by Akhil Sudarsan provide molecular-level insights into the how buffer ions influence LNP behavior.

New beginnings!

The cBio group is excited to announce our move into the new BioInnovation Science Research Building at the University of Augsburg! This marks a fantastic start to the year, and we look forward to the opportunities this new chapter will bring for research, collaboration, and innovation.
