Chair for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
TEFL is the science of teaching and learning English language, literature and culture. Research in Augsburg focuses on the following areas:
- Teacher education
- Improvement of the quality of teaching (Balanced Teaching)
- Didactics of modern media
- Didactics of literature
- Intercultural learning
- Development of coursebooks
- In-service teacher education
The Chair has made it its mission to equip students with the following competences:
- Ability to do research-based teaching and practice-oriented research (action research)
- Ability to reflect on theory-based subject didactics (diachronic and synchronic)
- Mediation competence appropriate to the type of school and the school level
- Enjoyment of teaching
- Ability to further develop schools and TEFL
