CHAIR OF STATISTICS BECOMES PART OF THE CLUSTER in winter term 20/21

Dear students,

starting in winter term 2020/21, the Chair of Statistics of Prof. Yarema Okhrin will complement the offer of the cluster in the master's program with the English-language course "Machine Learning"

In this course you will have the opportunity to learn about modern methods of machine learning. These methods have a wide range of applications and have become indispensable in Business Analytics. Although the implementation has become very easy with the help of the numerous software products, a deeper understanding of these procedures is of central importance for a correct implementation. Among other things, the following approaches to supervised and unsupervised learning will be discussed during this course: Regularization, regression trees, neural networks and deep learning, support vector machines, text mining, autoencoder, PCA, etc. In this lecture, great importance is attached to interpretability of results (interpretable ML) and ensemble methods.

The practical implementation of the methods is done with R and thus with the software you already know from the econometrics lecture.
