Vitae

Patrick Hoffmann's research interests lie in the intersection of common-pool resource theory and behavioral economics, and focus mainly on studying problems related to water governance under scarcity. He applies mixed methods approaches, including economic (laboratory and field) experiments and qualitative comparative analysis.

Patrick holds an MSc in Environmental Systems Sciences and Economics from Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, Austria and an MSc in Ecological Economics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Spain. In 2023, he received his PhD in Environmental Sciences and Technology at the Institut de Ciencia i Tecnologia Ambientals (ICTA - UAB) with a dissertation on drought adaptation and sustainable water use in collectively-managed irrigation systems.

Patrick joined the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Centre for Climate Resilience at the University of Augsburg in 2023. He is also affiliated with ICTA - UAB, where he joined a research project that studies behavioral, mental, and cognitive factors of water use in Spanish irrigation systems.
