A board of advisors supervises the academic work at the JFZ. The board is composed of renowned and experienced researchers and research managers, who use their academic expertise to counsel the JFZ with regards to project proposals, the acquisition of funding and the development of organizational structures. Furthermore, the Advisory Board advises the Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum on the quality and feasibility of scientific projects and on the financing of research by public and private funds.
