After completion of the admission and finding a dormitory, you proceed to planning your journey!

You will take care of your visa, and find information about health insurance.

Depending on your home country, you may need a visa and/or a residence permit for your exchange stay in Germany. You should organize your visa as soon as you receive your letter of admission. Don't forget to take waiting periods into account. Exchange students  are responsible for their visa themselves. Please refer to the German embassy in your home country.

Initial information on the subject of visas can also be obtained from the Federal Foreign Office and the DAAD

In case of queries regarding residence and visa, please turn to our colleagues from the  Hochschulbetreuungsstelle (university service center), your contact persons for all questions regarding legal matters.

Health Insurance

In Germany, exchange students are obligated to take out statutory health insurance. You are responsible to take care of your insurance status.

We strongly recommend taking out a travel insurance in your home country, as well as taking out public health insurance as soon as you arrive in Augsburg!
