Study content:

The Master's programme in Media and Communication Studies deepens existing competences in communication studies and enables an individual focus either on "Health, Environmental and Science Communication" or on "Media and Social Change". The aim is an in-depth examination and analysis of phenomena and new developments in the media field. This includes the acquisition of advanced skills in qualitative and quantitative methods. In both areas, teaching research projects are carried out that deal with current issues in communication studies. As part of individual profiling, you can also study one of five thematic areas in detail: "Environment and Climate", "Health and Psychology", "Society and Politics", "Media Management, Corporate Communication and PR" or "Journalism, Digitalisation and Data Science". In the selected area, you will take thematically appropriate courses at the university and carry out a practical project with a media or communication partner of your choice. The programme is rounded off by your Master's thesis, which is usually written in the fourth semester.
