Research
Marie Fischer (she/her) is a research associate and PhD student in Climate Politics at the Centre for Climate Resilience, University of Augsburg. Her research focuses on the international negotiations on dealing with loss and damage from climate change. She is particularly interested in the question of how the dominant governance of Loss and Damage is contested in various discursive spaces. Her work centers on the subversive discourses and the resistance of civil society in the political struggle for climate justice. Marie Fischer uses Foucault's perspective on power and government to understand forms of resistance that go beyond traditional forms of protest, such as ‘being, doing, and thinking otherwise’. What drives her work is the ambition to uncover the power of discourse, to pluralize the debate on (climate) futures, and thereby opening space for emancipatory change.
