The Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum - a Center for Transnational Studies - is an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented research center at the University of Augsburg, which merges, connects and brings together research foci and key issues in the cultural sciences, humanities and social sciences and promotes their public visibility. It encourages academic exchange between its members, coordinates international cooperation, organizes conferences, facilitates the publication of research results and offers support in the administration and acquisition of third-party funds.

The Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum continuously distributes grants for

International conference grants

The International conference grant scheme is only open to members of the Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum. Within this scheme, members of the JFZ can apply for financial support for an international conference related to a project based within the Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum. Funded conferences must take place in Augsburg with the participation of national and international researchers. They should be organized mainly by members of the University of Augsburg.

If funding is approved for an International conference grant application, the JFZ will cover the following costs:

  • Travel and accommodation expenses for conference participants, fees for plenary speakers, costs for conference flyers (up to € 1.500 total)
  • Food and beverages for conference participants (up to € 1.500 total)

The JFZ will also provide administrative support for organizing the conference.

Please submit applications for International conference grants via email and at least three months prior to the conference start date. Applications should include a preliminary conference schedule and program, a list of confirmed participants, a detailed cost overview and a short description (1 page) specifying how the conference is related to and embedded into the associated research at the JFZ.
